Eficiencia-X en la banca ecuatoriana durante el periodo 2000 - 2003

Abstract

This work makes a first attempt of efficiency-X estimation in the Ecuadorian bank, along with the analysis of the scale efficiency, for which a parametric methodology was used, concretely that denominated like DFA (Dristibution Free Approach) in a panel data conformed by 18 institutions during the period of post-dolarizacion that includes march 2000 to march 2003. The obtained results indicate that high levels of inefficiency in costs in the Ecuadorian bank exist, which are of the order of 32% in average, as well as that the main source of inefficiency is inefficiencies-X by on scale inefficiencies.
